Update - June 2004</b></td> </tr> <tr> <td height=15><img border="0" src="http://www.mdalaw.org/newsletter/images/1pix.gif"></td> </tr> <tr> <td><b>New Supervising Attorneys</b><p>Michael Brennan and Daniel Solomon were recently hired as the new supervising attorneys for Middlesex Defense Attorneys.  They have each been hired for a one year term to begin on July 1, 2004.</p><p>Attorney Brennan replaces Joseph Shields after several years of service in the Framingham area.  Attorney Brennan, a 1990 graduate of Suffolk University Law School, is a sole practitioner in Framingham and has served on the MDA Board of Directors.</p><p>Daniel Solomon replaces Douglas Parigian, also after several years of service, in the Lowell area.  Attorney Solomon is a 1977 graduate of Boston University School of Law and is a founding partner of Blank and Solomon Law Offices. Twelve CLE credits are required for the 2004 contract (7/1/03  6/30/04). The requirement has been reduced to eight credits for the 2005 contract (7/1/04  6/30/05).</p><p>Proof of CLE credits is required and is expected at the end of the contract period. Proof of twelve CLE credits obtained between 7/1/03  6/30/04 must be submitted to MDA no later than June 30, 2004.</p><p>If you are unable to provide attendance certificates as proof of CLE credits, a signed affidavit outlining the specifics of the courses in which you participated will be accepted for <u>this year only</u>. Please request a certificate in the future as they will be required as proof of attendance for credits earned between 7/1/04  6/30/05, if you intend credit to be applied to your MDA requirement.</p><p>Any attorney who is unable to obtain all twelve CLE credits before 6/30/04 will be granted a six month grace period in which to obtain the credits he or she is lacking. A written request is required and should be submitted to MDA by 6/30/04. Credits obtained during the grace period will ONLY be applied to the 2004 contract, and will not be applied to the 2005 requirement as well. Any attorney who does not obtain the credits by the end of the grace period (12/31/04) will be removed from the schedule and will not be eligible to take duty days until he or she is current with the requirement.</p></td> </tr> <tr> <td height=15><img border="0" src="http://www.mdalaw.org/newsletter/images/1pix.gif"></td> </tr> <tr> <td><b>MDA Bar Advocate Contracts</b><p>If you have not already, please submit your contract / jury trial information / insurance etc. to the MDA office ASAP. <b>The new contract period begins July 1, 2004.</b></p></td> </tr> <tr> <td height=15><img border="0" src="http://www.mdalaw.org/newsletter/images/1pix.gif"></td> </tr> <tr> <td><b>Somerville District Court Duty Days</b><p>Somerville District Court now has a criminal session all day on Wednesday. A listserv is a program that automatically distributes email messages to names on a mailing list. All MDA panel attorneys will be subscribed to the list and will receive all messages posted to it. This is a great tool to disseminate and gather information. Please feel free to post any information you feel would be valuable to the membership. You can use it to ask each other for information, swap duty days, send invitations etc.</p><p>MDA will automatically register every MDA panel attorney. You will receive an email informing you of your registration. This process will take time, however every attorney will become active on the list within the next several weeks.</p><p>To post a message, simply send an email to: middlesex@yahoogroups.com.
